Safety while using Power Tools and Yard Equipment

This will be a short safety note on protecting your eyes while using power equipment that involves rapidly moving sharp parts. Power circular saws, drills, reciprocating saws, hedge trimmers, string trimmers, and lawn mowers(to mention a few) all have a common weapon, sharp moving parts. Moving parts, whether sharp or not, are inherently dangerous because the inertia of the parts can deliver enough damage through kinetic energy to damage or destroy parts of the body very quickly, especially the eyes. This is why it's important to make sure you wear gloves while handling outdoor yard equipment to protect the hands as best you can and wear approved eyeglasses. Approved eyeglasses are ANSI Z87 grade safety glasses with polycarbonate lenses. If the glasses are not stamped Z87 they are not legal safety glasses and could fail in a time of immediate need. You only get 1 set of eyes, what are they worth?

Look for: Compliance: ANSI Z87.1-2003 High Impact. SEI Certified.
