Ralph Lauren Creates Un-needed Attention
There have been many criticisms about advertisers and Photoshoping their models into something else. Ralph Lauren has threatened a law suit against a website that exposes this, and other, acts of airbrushing in advertising. The photo in question had viewers asking how the young woman's waistline could be smaller than her head. It really was thinner than her head! The American version of this website pulled the story and photo but their Canadian site went whole hog with the story because they're not bound by American courts and their rulings. The British government, on another such Photshop image of Twiggy, is expected to move forward with legislation that would prohibit 'bold faced lying' when it came to expected results. The photo of Twiggy showed her 50 year old face with out even 1 wrinkle. If you see her in a film from a few years ago she had many natural wrinkles and it added to her character, not detracted. That must have been some fantastic eye wrinkle cream she used. The problem is that legitimate companies that sell legitimate products that DO make a positive effect on skin appearance are grouped in with the pitchmen and everyone suffers. Ralph is just so out of touch he hasn't seen that the public (men) like to see curves on a woman and not hip bones and ribs alone!
