Credit Errors and Identity Theft Still on the Rise!
I know the current economic situation we are in is rough but can't these people at least get a job digging a ditch or something legal? It seems like there are a lot of people out there who want to be somebody else until the bills are due. I'm referring to identity theft and credit reporting errors. These things can be devastating and long term headaches, not to mention painfully expensive if not caught early on. Twenty years ago if you told the police that someone stole your identity you'd get a suspicious glance or two and a look of disbelief. Needless to say it's a whole new ballgame today and everyone from your creditor/banker to the Secret Service is taking a swing at catching these maggots. Like finding an illness, credit fraud/identity theft rely heavily on early detection! You, the consumer, must be vigilant when it comes to your finances because they'll take 'all you got' and then some. It is up to you to be aware of changes to your account(s) and be proactive with your bank, credit card company, and credit report services. The latter can be invaluable at detecting subtle changes or additions to your credit such as a change of address, phone number change, or an account you never knew about. The banks and credit companies will not see a problem until bills are not paid and collections try to track down Mr. or Ms. John Q. Public and make them pay a card bill they never knew they had. Information is KING and the ones that have it are in control. Don't let it happen to you. My friend Tom is still feeling the effects and his got taken care of a year ago.

Traffic Deaths and Injuries on the Rise while Economy Drops!
What has traffic incidents and the economy have in common? Everything, I'm afraid. One word that comes to mind concerning both of these situations is Alcohol, and Alcoholism.
Why is that? That's easy to explain. People are weak! That's right, weak. Oh, it's not really their fault, as it were. It's just that some people are not able to handle the stress, pressure, tension, depression....I think I've gone far enough. These are legitimate flaws and situations that we all suffer from to one degree or another. Some of us can 'tough it out' and others quietly cry in the corner. Does it make them any less of a person? Not at all, it just means they're human with human issues. The traffic issues are a deadlier point during these times. People are not always going to drink in the privacy of their homes and not drive because deep down they are responsible people. Alcohol rips that facade away. It becomes worse when under-insured, or non-insured, people get into collisions with others. This creates a necessary need for automobile and motorcycle accident attorneys to represent the victims to receive necessary compensation, and sometimes the families of the perpetrators to keep from financial collapse due to another's crime. In order to protect everyone involved it is very important to be adequately insured, and if you own a home and someone in your family likes to tip the bottle back a bit you may want to look at Umbrella Coverage that will cover a much larger claim that would normally take away the house and bank account. I know it can be expensive but losing your house is more expensive. Maybe I'm wrong, but I don't think I am.

The World is Coming Apart a Little. What is the Glue?
I don't know if it's as bad as the pundits say it is. One side will always declare an emergency, of course it's one brought on by the other side. By sides I refer to our petty political system that we have currently in this country, the once Good Ol' USA! Don't get me wrong, I love my country and would fight to keep it free but the powers that 'were' have put us in a precarious position where we may need to adopt some of the more nationalistic (some say Socialistic) methods of taking care of our countrymen, and women! National health is one thing that we desperately need in this country. I know MANY people, including myself, who have job shopped and put money second only to benefits. Benefits means health insurance and retirement account opportunities.
We do not have an adequate system to care for our fellow Americans. We have abject poverty and desperate families praying for good health to follow them because they cannot afford health care. Our own people are suffering and we call ourselves Americans? Look at the United Kingdom (Parliamentary Government, not Socialist or Communist), look at Australia (Parliamentary Government, not Socialist or Communist), look at Canada (Parliamentary Government, not Socialist or Communist), look at, well the list goes on. Non of these major nations have fallen to Socialism but have extrapolated inherent ideas from them and tweaked them to work in a Democratic Government where leaders are voted in with open elections, just like the U.S. So why are our citizens compelled to abuse drugs and alcohol? An outlet maybe or is it a feeling of boredom and being left out. We do have alcohol treatment centers, drug rehab centers, and even centers for the families of these misdirected individuals. Drug addiction and alcohol addiction CAN be treated without the old preconceptions of what an addict is, but rather the person they can return to be again.
We can either take care of our own population now and get our old stature back or we can let the rest of the world become healthier than one of the greatest nations on Earth. That's not so great!
