European Influences Rise With the Economy
It seems to me that I see more and more the influence of the European community rising when the dollar is doing better than expected. I truly think that's how soccer finally caught on in the States, especially when it had always been considered the 'ugly sister' of football. Polo is another thing that I've seen on the satellite channels in the past few years and it's starting to appear again since the Dow went over 10,000 again. I guess that's why the horse tack shops are still in business. Owning a horse, whether it's for polo or most often not, is an expensive hobby unless you own a farm and it's earning it's keep. When the economy tanked out people were leaving their horses in peoples fields here in Florida and the field owners were hard pressed to care for them, some of which looked underfed for quite some time. When we see leisure activities on the rise I think that's a great sign of peoples confidence in the country's ability to restore the economy to where it once had been and a positive outlook is always welcome nowadays! Trying to emulate the relaxed lifestyle of Europe is one way for some who can afford to enjoy themselves and swim into the deeper end of the pool for a change.
