Blind Auction Bids Wins Stuff
I went to a storage bin auction the other day and bid on some unknown property that was never claimed or the owners never paid the rent for the storage. There were a number of sealed units and some sealed case that were up for sale. I put a few bids on a couple of sealed units to no avail and a few cases of miscellaneous merchandise as well. I did win on of the cases to my delight, at the time. The case I put the winning bid on had a baseball glove, a set of old binoculars, about 3 dozen books of little value, 3 broken pool cues(why even store them?), some baseball cards of limited value, and some power tools that were once good but had gotten painfully rusted and were now useless. All in all I just about broke even after selling the cards to someone on ebay and I donated the books to a shelter and will take the tax write off for it. It was fun until you thought about the possible reasons why someone had to stop paying the fees and couldn't collect their property either.
