Comfy Showers at Last.
I finally got my water softener installed and I'm ever so happy I did. Living in Florida has many advantages, soft water isn't one of them. Limestone being the predominant mineral where water is retained in the earth isn't conducive to a good old fashioned soapy shower, it's just the opposite. It's as if the soap turned into a decorative bar of something that becomes slippery but not soapy in the presence of local water supplies. Using one of many water softener systems allows the water to be subject to a salt solution called a brine, which removes the minerals from the water and ejects them to the ground while mineral free water gets to your faucets. Softened water does not leave that white caked residue on pans and tea/coffee pots as well as allows the ultimate extraction of wonderful suds from a small amount of soap in the sink and shower. Another plus in hard water country is that it will keep your hot water tank from fouling from mineral deposits thereby increasing the usable life of your water heating system. In other words it's great for use in all metallic pipes and fixtures in your home.
